Most licensed daycares have a clause that says if you give them a two week written notice, you can be realeased from your contract.  Read the contract and policies and see what her rules are.  When it comes to your children, you have to protect them first.  If they aren't being treated well, you have to leave.  I can't imagine what they are going through when you aren't there.  I don't like to recommend this but if she is a licensed childcare provider, she has a licensing agency.  You need to contact her licenser and I bet you will get immediate help.

I have a child that will turn two this week and he has been biting since he was 10 months old.  He is still nonverbal and has an anger problem.  They get frustrated when they can't verbalize what is making them so angry, when the child learns to talk it will improve.  The only thing you can do is shadow that child, can you see what is causing them to bite?  If it is consistently that same child, make sure there isn't an opportunity for it to happen.  Move the victim so they aren't together.  If they were older I would tell you to put a popsicle on the victims "owie" so the biter sees they are getting the attention and the treat an it helps alot. Do you give them an actual paper bill for tuition?  I bill my families with an actual paper invoice at the end of each week or two weeks whichever they have chosen on their contract.  Change your rules, if they don't pay you when it is due, the next morning when they walk in the door tell them their child can't stay until you are paid in full.  They are taking up a spot in your daycare and you can get paying clients.  Its easier said than done, but all you have to do it is once, it won't happen again when they can't go to work because they have nowhere for their child to go.  Tell them, when your new policy will go into affect.  Put it in writing and have the parents sign it so when it happens it won't be a surprise.

I've already sent a note home telling them what they need to check their children for BEFORE they arrive at daycare and then I go through the checklist before the parent goes home.  I've already had a parent sneak a child in with the stomach flu last week and now everyone has it.

Check the center for disease control's website.  They have information sheets you can print off and send home with the parents.

Good Luck!

It’s all over the news today, the swine flu is spreading and everyone is getting a little scared.  The news makes it sound bad.  So what should you do?  Basically nothing new.

The swine flu (H1N1) is a form of type A influenza and is treatable with Tamiflu and other medication.  This strain, although new, is not particularly deadly.  Yearly 63,729 Americans die of the flu (174 per day), so far only one death in the US is attributed to the swine flu.

As a Child Care Provider your best course of action it to continue what you are already doing.  Just remind your children to cough and sneeze into their hands, always wash their hands, and use Kleenex when needed.  You should also consider a good cleaning for you facility.  (Its spring cleaning time right.)   And don’t be afraid to send sick children home.  You should have a good policy for when children will be sent home.    The Daycare Success System has some great example contained in it for you use.

This is also a great time to send a note home for the parents to reassure them and inform them about how you are dealing with this outbreak.

Does anyone have information on how to price a Daycare Center when selling, or what to look for when considering purchasing a Daycare Center to know if the business & property are priced appropriately?

Can anyone tell me how Child Care Vouchers Work?
I've been looking online, and can find nothing on how they work.
Why don't alot of day care providers want to accept them?
I am opening a Day Care, and was told I would have people waiting
to sign on with me if I accepted Vouchers, that no one accepts them.

do you have a child care finder program in your area.

Ask your department of family services if there is and if so register with them.

They help alot of families find daycares around the USA.

Ask to be paid up front before services are rendered.
